We are planning to begin breeding a few ABCA registered Border Collies, for herding, agility, and family pets.

Border collies are known for their extreme intelligence, and amazing herding ability.  Not only are they considered the smartest dogs in the world, but they are also very good family dogs.  I was blessed to acquire my first Border Collie in July, 2015, from Spur Bar Ranch, in Michigan.  While we have owned several Border Collies, or BC crosses before, none of them have come close to Cleone for herding drive, trainability, and sweet temperament.  She was an exceptionally easy puppy to raise, though  of course there were a few bumps on the road, and we lost a few pieces of laundry to her busy teeth.  When it came to livestock though, she was all eagerness to learn, and not at all afraid of them.  Her sire was not a trial dog, but he worked livestock on the large ranch he called home, and I could tell at once that he had passed this on to his daughter.  She has little interest in my goat, though she will herd her, but when it comes to cattle, it is a different story.  At the age of just four or five months, she was already trying to bring the cows in, and now she has thoroughly taught them to respect and obey her.

I am looking forward to bringing my male puppy home sometime this summer, and can hardly wait to start raising puppies.  He is coming from an excellent breeder in Georgia, and his sire is a great sheep dog, and has placed in many trials.  I am excited to have two such good dogs, from both the backgrounds of sheep and cattle herding.
